Agartala: A startup incubated at Tripura University is fighting a water crisis in Assam. The team supplied over 2,000 litres of purified water to 30 families in Amguri and nearby areas. They used a patented mobile purification system to treat contaminated floodwater. The situation is dire.
M.Tech student Ashim and technician Santanu handled the field operation. They deployed the portable unit directly into the flood zone. Regular water supply systems in the region have been wiped out. The technology is specifically designed for rapid deployment during natural disasters and emergencies.
Prof Harjeet Nath founded the startup, known as InstaWater. He serves as an Assistant Professor at the university. He believes this project proves that campus research can solve real-world problems. The team has been running relief missions across the country since the startup began.
Nath emphasized the necessity of their work. He said, "Access to safe drinking water is one of the most urgent needs during floods. Through indigenous technology developed in Tripura, our objective is to provide immediate relief to affected communities while reducing the risk of water-borne diseases. We remain committed to supporting disaster response efforts wherever required."
The system treats surface water at the point of use. This keeps water-borne diseases from spreading. It provides a lifeline where infrastructure has failed. The team continues to monitor disaster zones for further aid opportunities.
