Agartala: A Special POCSO Court in Dharmanagar sent Uday Kumar Reang to prison for 20 years. Justice was served. The court found him guilty of sexually assaulting a minor.

Special Judge Court No. 1 in North Tripura delivered the verdict for Special POCSO Case No. 07/2023, which originated from Kanchanpur Police Station Case No. 2022/KCP/064. Reang faced convictions under Section 376(3) and Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code, plus Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The court ordered 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the POCSO charge. He must also pay a fine of Rs 10,000. Failure to pay that money adds six months of simple imprisonment to his sentence. The judge also tacked on three years of rigorous imprisonment for the Section 506 conviction. Officials confirmed the outcome on the record, noting the severity of the crimes committed against a minor.
