TMC Weighs Entry into Shillong Parliamentary Bypoll

Shillong: The Trinamool Congress is currently debating whether to join the race for the upcoming Shillong Parliamentary by-election. Sources within the party indicate that internal discussions are ongoing, though no final decision has been reached regarding their participation.

The by-election follows the death of MP Ricky A.J. Syngkon in February. If the TMC decides to field a candidate, the contest will feature a wide range of opponents. Several other parties have already secured their nominations, including the National People Party, which selected D.R.L. Nonglait, and the United Democratic Party, which nominated lawyer V.G.K. Kynta.

Other candidates include Batskhem Myrboh for the Voice of the People Party and Vincent H. Pala for the Congress. Reports also indicate that the BJP is likely to nominate Mariahom Kharkrang, who is already campaigning across the constituency. Election officials are expected to release the formal schedule for the vote in the near future.
