Gangtok: Tilak Gajmer took his oath as the Sikkim Information Commissioner on Thursday. The ceremony took place at Lok Bhawan in Gangtok. Governor Om Prakash Mathur administered the oath to the former state bureaucrat.

Gajmer previously worked as the Principal Director-cum-Secretary of the Horticulture Department. He retired from that government position on November 30, 2025. The commissioner post sat empty after Kuber Bhandari moved up to become the State Chief Information Commissioner on May 7.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang offered his congratulations following the appointment. He cited Gajmer's long history in public service. Tamang noted that his administrative experience and commitment will help improve local government. In a social media post, the Chief Minister said, "his administrative experience and commitment would contribute to strengthening transparency, accountability and citizens' right to information in the state."

Tamang added his hopes for a productive term. He expects Gajmer to keep serving the people of Sikkim with dedication.
