Three Students Drown at Assam Tea Estate

Guwahati: Three students died August 29 after drowning in a pond at the Cinnamara Tea Estate near Jorhat. A group of 10 to 12 boys gathered at the site to celebrate a friend's birthday. The victims entered the water to bathe. They never made it out.

The State Disaster Response Force recovered the bodies. Police identified the deceased as Akshat Kumar Roy, Sushanta Patel, and Rehan. Rehan attended Class 9, while Roy and Patel were both in Class 11. All three were students at a local private school.

Authorities are still piecing the scene together. "Police said further details regarding the incident are awaited." Investigators have yet to release additional information on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
