Gangtok: Election officials in Sikkim failed to collect over 37,000 voter enumeration forms during the third phase of the state's electoral roll revision. Data released Sunday shows 37,737 forms stayed in the field, hitting about 8 per cent of the total electorate.

Permanent relocation of voters tops the list of causes, with 14,603 cases reported. Deaths, absent electors, and voters registered in other regions account for the remaining shortfall. Officials claim the revision reached nearly every home. They managed to digitize over 433,000 forms, hitting zero backlog in the process.

Gangtok saw the most trouble, missing 14,238 forms. That represents 11.65 per cent of its local electorate. Other districts like Pakyong and Mangan recorded lower rates of uncollected paperwork.

Electoral Registration Officers are now reviewing the data. They must finish this work by July 4. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer noted that "the completion of the enumeration phase does not end the revision process for those left out."

Citizens still have a shot to fix their status. The state opens a window for claims and objections from July 5 through August 4. The government plans to release the final voter roll on September 6, 2026.
