Imphal: More than 3,000 runners packed the streets on October 18 for the Manipur Police Half Marathon. The event kicked off the countdown to the 135th Manipur Police Raising Day. Police Director General Mukesh Singh started the race to push physical fitness and healthy living across the state.
Technology tracked the pack. Organizers used chip-enabled bibs to log precise finish times for every runner across all race categories. The event aimed to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the local community through sport. High attendance proved the initiative worked.
Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur handed out trophies to the top finishers during the prize ceremony. Team 195 BPM backed the race as a lead sponsor. The department stated, "The large turnout reflected significant participation in the fitness event." Officials plan to keep using fitness drives to engage the public as they head toward their anniversary milestone.
