Imphal: The Konsakhul Village Authority has condemned an attack on residents in Leilon Vaiphei that occurred early on the morning of June 18. While the village authority expressed empathy for the victims of the violence, the incident has sparked a fierce war of words among several organizations regarding the identity of the perpetrators.

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) accused the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) and the Zeliangrong United Front-Kamson (ZUF-K) of carrying out the bombing. The organization stated, "Such attacks against civilian areas are unacceptable, inhuman, and a direct threat to the rule of law." KIM demanded that the government take immediate action against those responsible and prioritize the safety of civilians in the area.

The Joint Tribe Council Manipur (JTCM) strongly refuted these claims. The council asserted that the accusations against Naga groups are malicious and suggested that violence in the region is instead fueled by groups operating within Kuki territories. The JTCM further alleged that the area is under the control of Kuki militant outfits and called for an impartial investigation by the state government.

Meanwhile, the Konsakhul Village Authority criticized what it described as the selective portrayal of victimhood. The villagers detailed their own history of suffering, stating, "Our community has endured relentless and unprovoked aggression for an extended period, perpetrated by Kuki militant groups in collusion with Leilon Vaiphei villagers." They also defended the presence of CRPF personnel in the region, rejecting allegations of misconduct against security forces as a distraction from the conflict's root causes.

The Konsakhul Village Authority concluded its statement by urging all parties to reject violence and commit to peaceful coexistence. All involved organizations continue to demand government accountability as the cycle of accusations persists.
