Task force rescues two child labourers in Hailakandi

Guwahati: Hailakandi district officials pulled two children from labour during a sweep at Algapur market. A district task force led the operation. They found the kids working at two separate local businesses.

Authorities moved the children to a safe home immediately. The District Child Protection Committee now handles their care. Officials say they are currently arranging for their long-term protection and rehabilitation. The goal is simple: get these kids back into school.

The task force includes the Joint Commissioner, Labour Department officials, and child protection representatives. They want to stop illegal labour practices. "The primary objective of the initiative was to prevent children from being engaged in labour and help them return to education and a safe, normal life," officials stated.

This is not a one-off event. The administration plans to keep hitting different parts of the district to find and rescue more children. They are also starting a push to educate the public on child rights. The district is committed to building a society free of child labour.
