Tamenglong Community Holds Vigil for Slain Naga Civilians

Imphal: Residents and church members gathered in Tamenglong on June 14 to hold a candlelight vigil, honoring six Naga civilians recently killed in the region. The peaceful demonstration served as a show of solidarity with the grieving families while condemning the violent act.

The Town Churches Union and the Zeliangrong Baptist Churches Council jointly organized the event at the district headquarters. Participants held candles and offered prayers for the victims, who included two church leaders, Rev. Manu Thiumai and Pastor Kenpibow.

Rev. Pastor Guigongdai Pamei addressed the crowd, labeling the abduction and subsequent killing of the six individuals as an act carried out by Kuki individuals. He demanded immediate accountability for the tragedy, stating, "Such acts of violence should be condemned by all sections of society."

Speakers at the vigil pressed both the state and central governments to take decisive action to prevent further violence. The gathering ended with a collective call for justice, peace, and long-term harmony in the region.
