Supreme Court Judges to Lead Guwahati Family Court Conference

Guwahati: The Supreme Court Committee for Family Court Matters is teaming up with the Gauhati High Court to host a two-day regional summit in Guwahati. The event starts September 26 and ends September 27. It centers on the theme, "Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) versus Adjudication in Family Disputes: Challenges and Way Forward."

Judges, mediators, and senior lawyers will swarm the city. They plan to dissect how courts handle domestic violence, elder welfare, marriage, divorce, and child custody. Property disputes and maintenance pay outs are also on the table. The goal is simple. Experts want to swap best practices to speed up justice in broken homes.

Supreme Court Justices B V Nagarathna, Ujjal Bhuyan, and N V Anjaria headline the guest list. Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, will lead the inaugural session. Justice N V Anjaria handles the keynote speech, while Justice Ujjal Bhuyan delivers the final closing remarks. The conference will also push for better staffing and tougher infrastructure inside family courts.
