Students Union Alleges Hiring Scam at Central Agricultural University

Imphal: The All Manipur Students Union is crying foul over hiring practices at Central Agricultural University in Imphal. They claim the school rigged the search for 57 assistant professors. Leadership allegedly ignored the CAU Ordinance of 2023 to handpick favorites.

The union says the school changed rules halfway through the process. A June 2 notice added a written test for 12 roles while keeping interviews for the others. That is a mess. It makes no sense to use different rules for the same job rank. Another notice on June 23 pushed interview-only selection for specific plant science roles.

Secretary General Salam Changkhonba slammed the school for this behavior. He claimed the sequence of notices was evidence of administrative arbitrariness. The union wants the June notifications tossed out immediately. They also want the university to honor the original job postings.

A June 27 notice put the entire hiring process on hold. This created chaos. The union says the school is currently a headache for everyone involved. They plan to take the fight to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare if the university does not fix the errors. The union will keep watching the administration to ensure fairness.
