Shillong: St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School in Mawjrong finally has an official alumni body. Former students gathered on Saturday to form the Past Pupils’ Association. The group plans to strengthen ties, build unity, and support the school through new social and educational projects.
Skhembor Myrthong leads the organization as president. Other office-bearers include Vice-President Serofin Kharkongor, General Secretary Wilfred Mawniuh, and Assistant Secretary Robin Star Nongrum. Finance Secretary Shasha Mary Synrem joins Publicity Secretary Kitborlang Kharkongor, while Barishisha Nongrum and Osbornson Kharkongor handle sports duties. Lakmen Mary Nongkhlaw serves as social secretary, and Barisuk Nongkhlaw takes the education post. Principal Fr. Anthony Malai and committee president Babu Darius Mawlieh will act as advisers.
Myrthong thanked the alumni for their support during the launch event. He told the crowd that the association will work toward creating ways for graduates to help the school grow. He noted, "The association would focus on creating opportunities for former students to contribute to the school’s development."
Speakers at the event included Fr. Anthony Malai and longtime teacher Charlene Sawian. Sawian has spent nearly thirty years at the institution. Organizers hope the new platform keeps graduates in the loop while providing resources for future students.
