Spanish Couple Formally Adopts Child in Assam

Guwahati: Cesar Tauste Martinez and Maria Josefa Solves Royo claimed their adopted child in Kamrup district on August 24. The handover happened at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Amingaon. Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra oversaw the event with several child protection and legal officials.

Authorities followed the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 and 2022 Adoption Regulations. The legal path started on October 31, 2025, when the Child Welfare Committee declared the child free for adoption. The couple reserved the profile on February 27, 2026. CARA issued a No Objection Certificate one month later on March 27. The District Magistrate finalized the order on May 7, 2026, through the Specialised Adoption Agency in Boko.

Official documents including the passport and birth certificate arrived before the ceremony. Mishra noted the impact of these legal proceedings on international relations. "The adoption process, completed under the prescribed regulations, could contribute to closer bilateral and cultural ties between India and Spain," Mishra said.

Sharif Uddin Ahmed Pathan, Geetashri Lachit, and Punnam Pegu attended the meeting. Dilip Kumar handled translation duties for the parents. Everyone involved in the case saw the transfer through to completion.
