Kohima: The Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation in Kohima held a farewell event on September 30 for Additional Director AS Hovuto. The ceremony marked the end of his career spanning 32 years, six months, and 29 days. He served under 21 different directors during his tenure.
Advisor to Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Daochier I. Imchen, attended the event. Imchen praised Hovuto and wished him well in his retirement. Director L. Chubaonen handed over the official's completed pension papers as a gift. He specifically credited Hovuto for his dedication and professional conduct.
Colleagues took time to share stories. Registrar Vilavotuo Vincent Sote spoke about the professional bonds formed over the decades. Other officials, including Joint Secretary Vikuonuo Vizo, Project Director Rongsenlemzung, Joint Director Limasunep, and SDO(SC) Wondangbeni Kikon, highlighted his humility and approachable nature.
Hovuto thanked his colleagues during his final address. He urged staff to maintain their work ethic for the department and the public. He offered a final piece of advice to those remaining. He said, "While official positions and circumstances change, relationships built during one's journey remain significant."
