Gangtok: Sikkim has officially taken its Tourism and Civil Aviation Department online. The state launched a web-based e-office system this Wednesday to kill off sluggish paperwork. Officials designed the platform to digitize the daily grind and force more transparency into public service.
Minister Tshering T Bhutia rolled out the software under orders from Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. The system forces every document through a scanner. Once files hit the server, staff can track, review, and approve proposals from their desks in real time. It cuts out the old paper chase.
Bhutia called the move a vital time-saver. "The e-office system reflects a broader push for efficiency, transparency, and accountability in governance," he said. The platform currently links district offices to the state headquarters. Plans are already underway to plug local tourism information centers into the network soon.
