Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang toured Rimbi village on October 9 to survey landslide damage. The slide tore through the Yuksom-Tashiding constituency. Miraculously, no one died. Several families lost everything when the earth moved.

The state government handed out immediate cash and cheques from the Chief Minister Relief Fund. Payouts matched the level of destruction found at each property. Tamang also issued land allotment orders under the Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana. This plan ensures those who lost their homes get a fresh start on solid ground. The government intends to build new, secure housing for every victim.

Tamang promised the state would stand by these families during the entire recovery. He thanked officials, NGOs, private citizens, and political groups for helping the community. "The safety, dignity and well-being of residents remain its priority," the government stated. Officials are keeping a close watch on the recovery as long-term housing efforts begin.
