Senapati District Holds Massive Cleanup Before Independence Day

Imphal: Senapati District turned out in force today to scrub the region clean. The mass sanitation effort arrives ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebration set for 2026. District Level Officers led the charge alongside staff from every major government department. They worked with a single goal: scrubbing the district.

Work crews fanned out across designated zones to clear trash and debris. They tackled government office premises, the District Headquarters, and the area surrounding the Astro Turf Ground. Teams also cleaned the Mini Secretariat Complex, the Multipurpose Hall, the transformer zone, and the election EVM/VVPAT warehouse. Even the I Love Senapati site got a fresh look.

Local schools, banks, and health centers joined the push. Private shop owners and tenants of government quarters took responsibility for their own doorsteps to ensure the entire district remained pristine. Officials noted the initiative was aimed at "promoting cleanliness, civic responsibility and community participation across the district and creating a clean and conducive environment ahead of the Independence Day celebrations."

The District Administration also pushed the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at the Deputy Commissioner Office complex. They handed out national flags to departmental representatives. Officials want to stoke pride in the flag as the country nears its big day.
