Imphal: Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos successfully recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and military-grade equipment in Manipur's Kakching district. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team conducted the operation in the Purnaheitupokpi area to disrupt local insurgent networks.

The recovery included a USA-made .32 pistol with four rounds, two single-barrel breech-loading guns, and two detonators. Officials also seized various rounds of ammunition, including 17 AK-series rounds, 18 SLR rounds, 29 rounds of .303 ammunition, and three INSAS rounds. Additional items found at the site featured a striker spring, two tear smoke shells, 12 KCP logo stickers, and a bipod.

Beyond weaponry, the cache contained significant military apparel and protective gear, such as 12 bulletproof plates, two helmets, and over 60 combat shirts. Officials stated the discovery marks a key development in the region, noting that the "recovery represents a major success in ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the conflict-affected state."

All confiscated materials are now in the custody of the Heirok Police Station for further investigation. Security forces have ramped up intelligence-driven operations across Manipur to dismantle militant infrastructure and restore regional stability.
