Kohima: Pughoboto officials cleared the 2026-27 Local Area Development Programme on July 2. MLA Dr. Sukhato A. Sema chaired the monthly session at the Additional Deputy Commissioner office. James T. Khulu joined the meeting as the new vice-chairman. The board also launched a Sub-Divisional Best Employee Award to honor top public servants.
A committee featuring members from the Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho, SAKK, SATH, and SAKK will handle the selection process. Officials must submit nominations to the ADC by August 5. The SAH president will act as the convener. The board aims to recognize efficiency, dedication, and excellence in public service.
Census work hit a snag. SDO Civil Yitachu Thurr reported that power outages and bad internet connections stalled progress on day one. The board plans to press telecom providers for better power backups. Meanwhile, heavy rains chewed up the Pughoboto-Ghathashi Road. Officials barred heavy trucks from the road until further notice. Only light vehicles and essential transport get a pass.
Functional Manager Hekato K. Jimo gave a presentation on the RAMP program for local businesses. He noted that despite federal efforts, many entrepreneurs still struggle to secure capital. Jimo noted, "many beneficiaries continue to face loan rejections due to bank-specific risk policies, weak financial records and operational challenges within the local MSME ecosystem." The board will meet again on July 15 to plan for Independence Day.
