Power returns to two remote Meghalaya villages

Shillong: Power is back on in Bolmoram Adinggre and Rangsohkham. Both villages spent months or years in the dark after their transformers failed. SAI Computers Limited fixed the grid issues after taking over local operations. They replaced broken equipment that previous providers ignored.

Bolmoram Adinggre waited four years for electricity. Families there dealt with constant outages after a transformer died. The village sits in the East Garo Hills under the Nongalbibra circle. The new operator conducted a survey and installed a fresh transformer on June 19. A local resident said, "We are happy that we can finally live normally after four years in pitch darkness."

Rangsohkham faced a different fight. The East Khasi Hills village sat without power for nine months. Bad roads and rough terrain stopped heavy equipment from reaching the site. Technicians walked for miles and cleared paths by hand to bring in the new hardware. The job finished on May 18. A company official noted, "We achieved it through persistent effort."

These repairs provide relief for students and the elderly. The company is currently under heat for billing issues elsewhere. These recent fixes represent a shift in service for these remote areas.
