Shillong: A male nurse from Rajasthan faces accusations of molesting a minor girl at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. The incident allegedly occurred on July 4 during the girl's stay at the hospital. Her family filed a formal report at the Mawdiangdiang Police Outpost following the event.
The KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle is now pushing for the nurse's immediate arrest. A delegation led by assistant organising secretary Samuel Kharbani met with the Medical Superintendent on Monday to demand answers. "We got a complaint from the family of a girl below 18 years of age saying the nurse had touched her inappropriately when she was in the hospital," Kharbani stated.
Kharbani criticized the slow pace of the investigation. The Medical Superintendent confirmed the police are currently handling the case. He noted that the institute is waiting for the official inquiry results. He also told the police to move fast given the victim is a minor.
