Shillong: Police in South West Khasi Hills are calling in reinforcements. They need sniffer dogs to find Joit Kharlyngdoh, a 76-year-old woman missing since July 4. She disappeared from her home in Jakrem village at 3:00 PM.
Local volunteers have spent days scouring the local forests, ponds, and streams. They turned up nothing. Pascal Wahlang, the Myntri of Jakrem, noted that the search efforts have been extensive, but the area remains difficult to track. "Local volunteers have conducted extensive searches across forests, streams, and ponds throughout the area, but have so far been unable to locate her."
The district police asked Shillong headquarters for help on Wednesday. They expect the dog unit to arrive in Mawkyrwat on Thursday morning. Along with the canine teams, officers plan to fly drones over the rugged terrain to speed up the hunt.
