Police Arrest Three in Shillong Drug Raids

Shillong: Police busted two separate drug operations in Shillong on Monday. They hauled in three suspects and seized a stash of narcotics. Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Special Operations Team, and Infiltration Wing hit Lum Survey first. They cuffed Rafim Ali, 43, and his wife, Jaybhanu Begum, 35. The pair, both from Assam, held 116 vials packed with 14.42 grams of suspected drugs.

Other suspects bolted before police closed the net. Local residents had been complaining about the drug trade in the area for weeks. "Police sources said several other suspects fled the area before the raiding team arrived."

Across town at Jacob’s Ladder, a local resident spotted a suspected dealer acting strangely on Saturday. The resident stepped in and confronted the man. He then called the cops. Laitumkhrah police arrived and grabbed the suspect. They found a haul of narcotics and capsules ready for sale. Detectives are now digging into both cases. They want to find where the drugs came from and who else is running the operation.
