Kohima: Phek district leaders met June 19 to fix failing government schools and push infrastructure projects forward. Power Minister K.G. Kenye chaired the session at the Deputy Commissioner's hall. He told officials to show up to meetings. He wants everyone to work harder for the people. "The District Planning and Development Boards are for facilitating communication between the government and people at the grassroots level," Kenye stated.
School results fell flat in the recent HSLC and HSSLC exams. The Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer blamed specific issues for the bad grades. Board members now plan to adopt schools to help turn things around. They also pushed to install video conferencing gear in the main meeting hall.
Census talk dominated the afternoon. Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori and his team checked on the 2027 census prep work. Road repairs remain a headache too. The Pfutsero-Phek road is switching hands from the national highway agency to the state. Kenye promised to hunt for state cash to keep the pavement from falling apart.
