Kohima: Patkai Christian College marked its 50th Golden Jubilee Freshers Social on August 22 at the Bundrock Chapel Auditorium in Chumoukedima. The event welcomed a new batch of students under the theme Prologue: Bloom into Being. It drew a large crowd of faculty, college authorities, sponsors, and community members.
Nagaland Director General of Police Rupin Sharma served as the guest speaker. He drew on his early career history in Dimapur to discuss how education changes lives. Sharma urged students to engage with new ideas and diverse backgrounds. He specifically addressed the heavy pressures students face today. He said, "He encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, interact with people from different communities and backgrounds and remain open to new ideas and perspectives."
Dr. Rev. Shishak, the Founder Principal Emeritus, opened the day with prayer. Vice Principal Dr. Renchumi Kikon Kuotsu welcomed the crowd on behalf of Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Peru. The college president discussed the school history, noting its role in launching the careers of many engineers, entrepreneurs, and officers.
The day included a performance by the MSSM and a speech from commerce student Kezevinuo Seyie. Later, 24 contestants competed for the titles of Mr. and Miss Patkai 2026. Judges Nikali K. Shohe, Temsu Sanglir, and Anon Wangshu evaluated the group. Niboto and Viuni Achumi hosted the afternoon session, which included music from Moko Koza and the PCC Dance Club.
Chithuyuo Khrasi claimed the Mr. Patkai 2026 title, with Amunoto Assumi placing as first runner-up. Lunlalmon Neishiel won Mr. Ramp Walk, and Maden earned the Mr. Congeniality title. Thejaseno Thomas took the Miss Patkai 2026 crown, while Lalfamkimi was named first runner-up. Veitenei Angam won Miss Ramp Walk and Nahpon Konyak was named Miss Congeniality.
