NSCN-IM Condemns Deadly IED Blast in Shukhovi

Imphal: A deadly blast hit near Khopanala in Shukhovi on July 13. An Improvised Explosive Device killed one Indian Army soldier and left four others wounded. The NSCN-IM issued a statement calling the bombing a cowardly terrorist act.

The group claims this violence aims to disrupt regional stability and peace. It insists that using explosives only spreads fear and chaos among the public. The organization explicitly condemned the deployment of anti-personnel mines, calling them a violation of humanitarian principles.

The NSCN-IM reminded the public of its status as a signatory to the Geneva Call Deed of Commitment. This pact bans the use of landmines. The group stated, "The indiscriminate use of explosives serves no legitimate purpose other than to spread fear, create chaos and undermine the peaceful atmosphere that people have long sought to preserve."

Leaders confirmed their adherence to the Indo-Naga Ceasefire Agreement. They promised to follow ceasefire ground rules and support the ongoing peace process despite the attack. The group is currently investigating the incident to find those responsible for the explosion.
