Kohima: An NNC/FGN official is pushing back against Kuki territorial claims. D Ramai slammed these assertions as groundless. He insists that Kuki groups reside in Naga areas only as tenants under long-standing customary laws.
Ramai claims Kuki forefathers coexisted peacefully with the Nagas for generations. He argues that no historical Kuki homeland exists within these borders. The Naga territory stretches from the Meitei areas to the borders of Assam and Myanmar.
The NNC/FGN member warned that constant talk of false narratives stirs up trouble. He accused Kuki factions of targeting Nagas through criminal acts. Ramai issued a blunt warning to these groups during his July 4 statement: "The Nagas could no longer tolerate such actions."
Nagas want peace. Landowners expect their property rights to be respected by those living on their soil. Ramai urged Kuki groups to check the history books before making further claims. He stated that failing to do so will only make life harder for the next generation.
