Imphal: New Development Bank officials flew in from Shanghai to meet Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho. The September 25 meeting at the Mantripukhri office in Imphal centered on the Manipur Water Supply Project. They reviewed ongoing work involving urban infrastructure, sanitation, and climate-resilient water management. These projects aim to fix water security issues across the state.
Dikho told the bank team that quick action is mandatory. He wants reliable drinking water for rural and underserved areas. Coordination between the bank, the Public Health Engineering Department, and other agencies must improve to speed up construction. The group discussed how to fix distribution networks and keep water sources sustainable. Maintaining the infrastructure after completion remains a top priority.
The NDB team acknowledged the hurdles. They noted that the Public Health Engineering Department finished over 80 per cent of the project work. This milestone happened despite significant law and order challenges. The officials stated, "more than 80 per cent of the project work had been completed despite law-and-order challenges in the state."
The bank is ready to do more. They offered future help for health and education sectors in Manipur. Dikho promised the state will put the aid to good use. He pledged to finish the current projects as fast as possible.
