Shillong: General Dhiraj Seth met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday. This meeting followed Seth taking charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff on July 1. He presented his vision for the force during the discussion. He wants a tech-driven, future-ready military.
Seth introduced a plan called VIJAY to guide his leadership. Each letter marks a priority. V stands for Vigilance, while I covers Innovation and Transformation. J focuses on Jointness and Integration with other services. A represents Atmanirbharta, or self-reliance. Y highlights Yodha, honoring every soldier.
The General stressed the need for indigenous tech. "The overall aim will be 'To Win Our Wars with Indigenous Solutions.'" He plans to blend military strength with civil efforts to reach the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal. He also pledged to support veterans and families.
The Army remains ready. Seth promised to defend the nation's borders and integrity. He acknowledged the leaders who came before him. His tenure starts now.
