Kohima: Nagaland State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Tongpang L. Jamir, is demanding better enforcement of job quotas. He met with NPSC Secretary Nungsangmenla Imchen and NSSB Secretary Lanusenla Longkumer in Kohima on September 14. Jamir wants a clear 4 percent reservation for Persons with Disabilities in government roles. The meetings followed a flood of complaints from aspirants about faulty recruitment rosters.
The state bodies claim they only use rosters provided by government departments. Jamir countered that those rosters must stay accurate. He called for a clear, consistent, and transparent mechanism to track these vacancies. The commission also scrutinized the verification process for disability certificates. Jamir insisted this process must stay fair: "The process should be fair, transparent and uniform, without creating unnecessary barriers for genuine candidates."
Officials agreed to improve coordination between the State Government, the NPSC, and the NSSB. The goal remains a disability-inclusive hiring system. Any candidate encountering issues with rosters or recruitment should contact the SCPD office. Written submissions with supporting documents are preferred to ensure a timely review of all grievances.

Officials walked away from the Kohima meetings with a collective commitment to build a more systematic and consistent hiring framework to guarantee that qualified candidates actually land the jobs they are entitled to.
