Kohima: Nagaland’s Water Resources Department kicked off a two-week training program in Kohima on September 28, 2026. Experts from the National Institute of Hydrology, North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati, are running the course. They plan to teach spatial data usage, hydrological modelling, and infrastructure planning.
Sessions cover groundwater management, surface water analysis, and disaster response. Chief Engineer Er. Thepfusalie Guozi opened the event. He warned that global warming makes water management a matter of survival. Guozi told trainees to learn as much as possible from the experts. He said, "Global water resources management was vital for the survival of humanity."
Siddharth Arora, a scientist at NIH NERC, expects this to start a lasting partnership between the two agencies. He promised to help staff apply these digital tools to their daily work. The government wants departments to master these technologies to run independent studies. NIH will provide the necessary technical support throughout the rollout.
