Kohima: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang officially opened the new District Planning Office (DPO) in Peren, marking a significant step in the district's ongoing infrastructure expansion. During the ceremony, Zeliang emphasized that the new facility serves as more than just a physical building, representing a commitment to improved governance and inclusive regional development.

Addressing the gathered officials and stakeholders, Zeliang stated, "Let this building stand not only as a physical structure but as a symbol of efficient planning, responsive governance and inclusive development." He noted that the office will be instrumental in coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating developmental programs to ensure resources are utilized effectively across all sections of society.

Zeliang also directed departments, engineers, and contractors to maintain strict adherence to project specifications and timelines. He encouraged government staff posted in the area to reside in local government quarters, arguing that a thriving township requires the active daily presence of its institutions and workforce to function as a true administrative hub.

Peren Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru joined the Deputy Chief Minister in calling for increased inter-departmental cooperation to accelerate the district's progress. Meru highlighted the importance of the District Planning and Development Board in managing growth, while pointing to local initiatives such as the Green Peren agricultural brand and the need for stronger biosecurity to protect farmers from African Swine Fever.

According to the technical report provided by Executive Engineer Haulimchoba Chang, the newly completed office building cost Rs 95.20 lakh and includes six rooms across a plinth area of 104.8 square meters. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from District Planning Officer Danyi Domeh, following a dedicatory prayer led by Pastor Nlumbui Hengame.
