Imphal: Khanuitthot-Khon, a Tangkhul Naga youth organization, warned Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh against traveling to Ukhrul on September 28. The group fears for local safety. The Chief Minister plans to attend a Public Service Delivery Camp where various state departments must participate.
The group does not object to state visits in principle. They want the government to reconsider the timing due to volatile conditions. Past events haunt this decision. Two Tangkhul Nagas died shortly after the Chief Minister’s first visit on April 17, and six Liangmai Nagas were killed afterward.
The organization voiced frustration over armed groups operating under Suspension of Operations agreements. They demanded better protection for civilians and accountability for the recent string of deaths. The group stated, "Khanuitthot-Khon urged reconsideration of the visit in view of the prevailing security situation." They insist that the state must take concrete steps to restore order before any official visits occur.

The youth body has officially upgraded its stance from a warning to a boycott of the September 28 event. The organization identified two of the Tangkhul Nagas killed after the April visit as Chinaoshang Shokwungnao and Yaruingam Vashum.
The group expanded its demand for peace and security to cover all Naga-inhabited districts, specifically citing Ukhrul, Kamjong, Senapati, Tamenglong, Noney, Chandel, and Tengnoupal. They also pointed to the recent death of four additional Nagas in the region as a primary driver for the protest.
