Kohima: The 12th MDTTA Interschool Table Tennis Tournament wrapped up on July 30 in Mokokchung. Fifty-nine students from eight different schools battled for titles across three age groups. They played singles and doubles matches in the Under-13, Under-15, and Under-19 categories.
District Youth Resources and Sports Officer Zhopovi Zecho opened the event. Senior SDEO Chinglong served as the Guest of Honor during the final day. The competition spanned various skill sets. Mount Moriah School from Ungma walked away as the overall champion, while Queen Mary Hr Sec School earned the title of Best Discipline Team.
The Under-19 boys singles went to Tsungchir from Mount Moriah, while the girls singles title was taken by Imlibenla Imsong. In the Under-15 bracket, Tsungchir grabbed another singles win. Talishi from Town Higher Secondary School secured the girls singles trophy. For the Under-13 group, Imtinungsang and Molungnenla swept the top spots in their respective singles events.
Reflecting on the successful turnout, organizers highlighted the level of play. The tournament proved a "12th MDTTA Interschool Table Tennis Tournament 2026" success. Other podium finishers included Walunir and Arenlong Pongen, who won Under-19 boys doubles, and the pair of Molungnenla and Ochienla who took the Under-13 girls doubles crown.
