Kohima: Meluri officials want answers. The District Planning and Development Board met October 6 at the DC Office to grill National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited representatives. The discussion focused on a 16-kilometer stretch running from Akash Bridge to Akhegwo. The road condition is abysmal.
Advisor Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe chaired the session. ADC Shelly Katiry noted the Road Safety Committee inspected the route and officially declared it to be in "very poor" condition. The Pochury Hoho joined the chorus of complaints, demanding that the authority fix the mess immediately.
The board also addressed a request from the Meluri Sports Association for funding. Administrative security took center stage as well. ADC Katiry warned that the district lacks a strong room despite upcoming elections. He insisted on immediate arrangements to secure the area. Nyuthe echoed these safety concerns, ordering department heads to protect their property and stop issuing No Objection Certificates that might compromise government infrastructure.
EAC Kum Pipfusapojar rounded out the meeting with a presentation on election preparation. She detailed the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls currently underway in Nagaland. The board focused on voter verification and the inclusion of all eligible citizens in the final rolls.
