Shillong: Members of the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress gathered in Shillong on Thursday to protest against the steady increase in petrol and diesel prices. Led by organization president Joplyn Scott Shylla, the group voiced strong opposition to fuel costs that have driven up transportation expenses and the prices of essential goods.
Shylla emphasized that the financial strain falls hardest on low-income families, daily wage earners, and farmers. She argued that the government must step in to provide relief for those struggling with the current cost of living. "The continuous hike in petrol and diesel prices is affecting every household. The impact is visible in the rising prices of essential goods, making life increasingly difficult for the common man," Shylla stated.
The demonstrators called for immediate government intervention to stabilize fuel markets and protect vulnerable citizens. The protest concluded with a vow from the MPMC to continue opposing policies they believe place an unfair economic burden on the public.
