Shillong: Thirty-one schools in East Khasi Hills are starting a new digital learning pilot. The program focuses on Mathematics and Science for students in Classes 6 through 12. It targets both urban and rural government schools.
The Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER) built this project alongside the CK-12 Foundation and the state Education Department. Officials already trained 47 teachers and four school principals on the CK-12 Learning Platform. These educators will test how digital tools fit into daily classroom routines.
Students get access to adaptive resources and an AI-powered tutor named Flexi. This tool provides step-by-step guidance for complex problems. MPOWER manages the rollout, providing ICT infrastructure like devices and internet connectivity. They will track the data closely. According to the state, the initiative aims to help students strengthen their understanding of key concepts and engage more actively with classroom learning, while helping teachers use digital resources and learning data to provide targeted support.
The effort seeks to bridge gaps in subject mastery. Staff will monitor the outcomes to review how well the tech performs. They want to see better engagement across the board.

Government-aided schools are included in the pilot alongside government institutions. Project Director Sampath Kumar stated, Technology can play a meaningful role in making learning more accessible, engaging, and student-centred. He added that the program aims to blend digital resources with traditional instruction to prepare students for a future-ready education.
Miral Shah, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of CK-12, emphasized that teachers will use the platform to pull data-driven insights. These metrics allow staff to spot specific learning gaps and customize their lesson plans for individual students.
