Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma launched three major road infrastructure projects in the East Jaintia Hills district on Thursday. Held at the Latyrke Playground, the ceremony marked a total investment of 412 crore rupees aimed at transforming the region's transport network.
The largest portion of the funding, 355 crore rupees, is allocated for upgrading the Dkhiah-Sutnga-Saipung-Pala up to Semmasi Road. The plan also includes a 46.75 crore rupee improvement for the Sutnga-Khaddum Road, which will provide better access to the Chympe Waterfalls. Additionally, the government is investing 10.3 crore rupees to strengthen the Dkhiah-Sutnga-Saipung-Moulsei-Haflong Road.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sangma emphasized that these road improvements are vital for the state's progress. He noted that the enhanced connectivity will generate new economic opportunities while expanding access to essential services like healthcare and education. By bridging communities, the government intends to foster widespread development across Meghalaya.
