Shillong: Meghalaya election officials reached a 99.14 per cent distribution rate for Enumeration Forms during the current Special Intensive Revision. Data shows 23,29,438 people received forms out of 23,49,645 total electors. Workers have already moved 88.45 per cent of this data into the digital system. Speed matters. The clock is ticking toward the August 5 publication of the draft electoral roll.
Five districts hit the perfect 100 per cent mark for distribution: West Jaintia Hills, East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, and South West Khasi Hills. Ri-Bhoi, West Khasi Hills, and Eastern West Khasi Hills nearly cleared their lists. East Khasi Hills remains the laggard at 96.97 per cent distribution and only 79.02 per cent digitisation.
Officials flagged 1,05,280 entries as Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate. This total includes 59,917 deceased, 27,048 shifted, 13,241 absent, and 4,196 duplicate names. East Khasi Hills holds the heaviest load with 30,910 of these cases. Some residents are pushing back. Data shows 878 people refused to take the forms entirely. Another 2,07,300 electors currently lack proper mapping, with Ri-Bhoi holding the highest share of unmapped voters at 23.23 per cent.
The Election Commission issued a blunt warning to the public. "Failure to submit Enumeration Forms within the prescribed timeline will result in their names being excluded from the draft electoral roll," the report stated.
