Shillong: Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla reaffirmed the government's firm stance against the harassment of female athletes on Saturday. The minister addressed recent allegations of sexual misconduct involving women cricketers and reports that the Meghalaya Cricket Association previously ignored formal complaints.

Shylla stated that the administration is committed to ensuring safety across all sporting organizations in the state. Officials will withhold further public comment until the current investigation concludes.

The Meghalaya Cricket Association has launched an internal inquiry into the allegations. Additionally, the Meghalaya State Commission for Women has requested a formal explanation regarding the situation.
