Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma laid the foundation stone for a new building at Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School on July 3. The visit to the Amlarem Block signaled a push for better facilities in West Jaiñtia Hills. He also opened a digital library for children and teenagers at the Sohkha Mission Village.
Sangma met with the All Sohkha Development Committee to honor top-performing students. He highlighted state progress over the last eight years. "More than 2,000 schools have been upgraded across the state, with significant investments made in school infrastructure and teacher training, contributing to a marked improvement in Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) pass percentages."
The government aims to fix remaining gaps in the system. Sangma promised to boost school resources while fixing local roads. He told the crowd that balanced growth remains the priority. The administration intends to keep upgrading buildings to give students better tools to learn.
