Manipur Police Seize Explosives and Ammo in Dual Security Sweeps

Imphal: Security forces picked up two juvenile Kuki National Front (Military Council) fighters on Monday. The bust went down at a mobile vehicle check post in the P. Geljang area of Churachandpur district. Officers found 77 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition on the pair. The investigation is ongoing.

Police hit the ground running elsewhere on the same day. While patrolling near Chiru village in the Kangpokpi district, officers uncovered a haul of dangerous hardware. They secured one suspected improvised explosive device and four locally made mortar shells.

The recovery happened during routine foot patrols aimed at tightening area security. Officials confirmed the find, stating, "The suspected IED and mortar shells were secured, and further necessary action is being taken in accordance with established procedures." The gear is now in police custody as authorities continue their work in the region.
