Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh marked the 12th anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership by highlighting major developmental strides in infrastructure, healthcare, and sports. Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat in Imphal, officials lauded the NDA government for fostering regional growth and fulfilling long-standing state priorities.

A centerpiece of the government's achievements in the state is the establishment of the National Sports University. The Chief Minister noted that the institution was created to harness local athletic talent and remains the first of its kind in India. He also pointed to the December 2019 implementation of the Inner Line Permit system as the fulfillment of a long-standing demand from the people of Manipur.

Significant transportation projects remain a priority for the administration. The Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal railway line, which aims to link the state capital to the national rail network, is scheduled for completion by 2028. Additionally, the new integrated terminal at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport is nearing its final stages of construction.

The administration highlighted several other milestones, including the commissioning of the stealth guided missile destroyer INS Imphal and the opening of the first medical college in a hill district at Churachandpur. Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh also noted the 2021 renaming of Mount Harriet in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Mount Manipur, intended to honour freedom fighters from the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.

During the briefing, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam stated that border fencing along the India-Myanmar border is being undertaken "on a war footing" to improve security. Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho added that India has already exceeded its emissions intensity reduction targets ahead of schedule. The event was attended by various state ministers and legislators, including T. Robindro Singh, S. Premchandra Singh, and Th. Shanti Singh.
