Imphal: The National Testing Agency declared NEET UG 2026 results yesterday. Over 8,000 students from Manipur sat for the exam after a reschedule. Testing occurred on June 22 across 14 centres in Imphal East and Imphal West districts. Another 862 candidates tested at Churachandpur College. Chandel’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya hosted 201 test-takers.
Officials have not released the specific number of qualified candidates from Manipur yet. The Directorate of Health Services in Manipur will build the state merit list during counselling. Last year, 6,116 candidates from the state qualified.
National data shows women are leading the pack. Over 58 percent of all successful candidates are female. Women hit a 56.8 percent qualification rate, edging out men who reached 55.1 percent. Punjab-based educationist Dr. Vijay Garg credits this to better digital access, coaching, and student discipline.
Garg said the performance reflects the increasing participation and excellence of women in competitive examinations. He noted that expanding government medical seats is now the biggest hurdle. More women in medicine will fix the healthcare system’s gender gap, he added.
