Manipur MP Pushes Centre to Fast-Track Relief for Displaced Residents

Imphal: Manipur Rajya Sabha MP A Sharda Devi met Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi at Parliament House on July 29. She pressed the Centre to fast-track state proposals. The state needs help. Sharda Devi, who also heads the Manipur BJP, targeted the welfare and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons as her primary concern.

The discussion centered on the ongoing socio-political crisis gripping Manipur. Sharda Devi requested quick action on demands submitted by the state government. She emphasized that timely intervention remains vital for communities reeling from the conflict. Support must arrive now.

Following the meeting, Sharda Devi noted in a social media update that the Union minister provided specific assurances regarding the state's plight. "The Ministry of Women and Child Development would extend all possible assistance to the people of the state and give due consideration to the issues raised during the meeting," Sharda Devi reported. The ministry will now review these requests to determine the next steps for aid.
