Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting centered on ongoing efforts to stabilize the state. Khemchand detailed the resumption of the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, noting it has improved connectivity and brought relief to the public. He pushed for continued federal assistance to manage state challenges and foster lasting peace.

Khemchand invited Shah to visit Manipur. The Home Minister accepted and confirmed he will arrive later this month. According to the Chief Minister, he told Shah: "During the meeting, I apprised the Hon'ble Home Minister of the various measures taken up by the State Government for restoring peace and normalcy in the State. I requested the Hon'ble Home Minister to help the State tide over various issues being faced by the State and sought continued support and guidance from the Central Government."

Shah expressed appreciation for the state government's work. He promised to keep backing local development and peace initiatives. The Chief Minister also sat down with Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. They reviewed regional sports infrastructure. Mandaviya plans to visit the National Sports University in Imphal soon.

Khemchand raised a specific concern regarding athletic administration. He told Mandaviya that athletes face major hurdles when two separate governing bodies claim authority over a single sport. The Chief Minister urged the Centre to resolve this confusion. Both ministers discussed the success of Manipuri athletes at the recent Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The state government continues to prioritize rehabilitation for displaced people while waiting for these federal visits.
