Imphal: Manipur officials named senior IAS officer H. Gyan Prakash as the new chairman of the Manipur Public Service Commission. The Raj Bhavan confirmed the move on Friday. It falls under Article 316 of the Constitution of India.
Gyan Prakash leaves behind his role as Commissioner and Secretary in the state Education Department. He belongs to the 2003 IAS batch. He served in several key posts throughout his career.
The rules set strict limits. He will hold the position for six years or until he turns 62. The state government will set his pay and allowances based on the Manipur Public Service Commission Regulations of 1972.
Regulation 5 of these rules triggers a change in his employment status. According to the communiqué, "Gyan Prakash will be deemed to have retired from the Indian Administrative Service from the date he assumes office as the MPSC Chairman."
He holds a bachelor degree from the University of Delhi. Officials expect his experience to help the recruitment body run better. He was born in July 1966.
