Maheshwar Thounaojam Calls for Action to End Manipur Unrest

Imphal: Maheshwar Thounaojam wants results. The Republican Party of India Athawale National Secretary demands that residents turn the ideals of Hijam Irawat into concrete action to stop the violence tearing through Manipur. He spoke at a gathering in Haobam Marak honoring Irawat on his 130th birth anniversary.

Empty gestures fail. The state needs more than just speeches. Thounaojam argued that claiming to love the region without working for its welfare is nothing more than pretense. "Merely professing love for Manipur without contributing to its welfare amounted to pretence."

The day began at Pisum. Supporters gathered to lay floral tributes at the memorial before trekking to Haobam Marak for a formal ceremony. Participants placed flowers at Irawat's portrait to mark the occasion. Thounaojam told the crowd that the current generation must draw from the determination and grit Irawat showed during his own fights for the people. He hopes these efforts help return stability to a state currently gripped by intense unrest.
