Guwahati: Lightning killed two farmers in Assam on September 9. The victims were working in fields near the Indo-Bangladesh border when the storm hit. The tragedy occurred at Kedar Part-III village within the Golokganj sector of Dhubri district.
The deceased were identified as residents Moslem Uddin and Abul Hussain. The pair moved through Gate No. 51 to reach agricultural land located in the no-man's-land stretch beyond the border fence. A sudden thunderstorm rolled in while they were busy in the fields. A lightning strike killed them instantly.
Border Security Force personnel and a team from the Golokganj Police Station arrived at the scene to recover the bodies. Authorities moved the remains to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Locals remain in shock following the loss. The incident has triggered deep grief in Kedar Part-III village, where the community is mourning the sudden deaths of the two men.
